SPACIOUS - the card deck

These cards began as a love letter from me as I turn 40 to me turning 30. They are the wisdom I wish I had then - and which I still call on now. Which is to ask "How can I create time and space for myself today? ... to ask how am I? And what I need?" And to listen and do that.

If you find yourself here, I imagine you are curious to ask these questions too. That you're looking for prompts and nudges and ways to explore them further. To make these feel simple and possible. To bring calm and presence to your life.

It is important to me that the answers to these questions are accessible and possible for all of us: that they are affordable … that they are not dependant on someone else … that they can be done from home or in lockdown or if you are disabled or oppressed by the systems we live under. It feels audacious and rebellious to hold this intention.

The art works are shapes and items I see as I go about life – my morning walk, time at the beach, the pattern on a placemat, cleaning up toys.

The colours are the ones I was drawn to at the art shop – pink, gold, blue – these are the colours I wear … the big swathes of white space that you see in the cards is an echo of the big white walls and bright colour splashes of our home.

I have loved noticing the beauty that is all around me. Photographing it. Recreating the feeling of it as I put it on paper. Finding the word that matches the image.

It feels poetic - and of course - that the beauty and everyday-ness of the images has found the beauty and everyday-ness of the ways of holding space for ourselves (and others) that the cards nudge us to.

I will be sharing at @clarefoale on Insta and FB as I continue to explore and co-create with them - this is only the beginning. You are so welcome to weave in your wisdom and energy and ponderings there. I feel a community of us gathering to ask these questions and to share our answers. I would love you to be part of it.
